Matt grew up in Roseville and attended the University of St. Thomas for two years before transferring to the University of Minnesota, where he earned a degree from the prestigious School of Architecture. Within a few years, he started his business, he married Laura, bought a home and began his family. Matt has served in Minnesota’s House of Representatives since 2005, serving as majority leader from 2011 to 2013. As chair of the powerful Health and Human Services Committee, he’s been an unwavering opponent of Mark Dayton’s disastrous blunder of making Minnesota a first in participant in Obamacare and has dedicated himself to ensuring that Minnesota will be the first to get out. Matt works tirelessly on behalf of challenger candidates statewide for the Minnesota House. During the 2016 alone, he quietly put 45,000 miles on his car, helping challenger candidates get elected.

With this impressive profile, Dr. Laura is renowned for her almost magical ability to find time in her busy schedule to accommodate everyone who asks. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Laura Dean has delivered thousands of babies in her practice in the Stillwater-White Bear Lake area. She attended Mayo Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota. She received her certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been named a “Top Doc” many times in the Best of Health directory of top doctors in the Twin Cities, as determined by a survey sent to 2,500 physicians and 2,500 nurses. Always the top lieutenant in Matt’s political campaigns, Laura is a long-time activist in Minnesota’s GOP. She has served on the State Central Committee, has been a delegate to senate district, congressional district and state conventions. She was also a delegate to the 2016 GOP National Convention in Cleveland. A fun fact is that as an undergraduate at the University of St. Thomas, Laura was an All-American athlete in track-and-field, competing in 4 x 400 meter relay.

Always a Family Affair

Matt and Laura Dean are proud to be raising a sixth generation of Deans in the northeast metro. Today, Jack (left) is a freshman at the University of St. Thomas, studying computer science; Jane is a eighth grader and Marta is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota Crookston, where she is a member of that school’s equestrian team.

Running for Governor

Our challenges are great, but they are small in comparison to those faced and overcome by the great Minnesotans who built this state for you and me. That’s why I’m running for governor. With strength of purpose, let’s all work together toward restoring the birth right of hope to Minnesota’s next and greatest generation.
